Practical tips for safe hiking

When you set out to explore the Hérault countryside, don’t forget your equipment: water, hat and suitable footwear. This is the most important thing, so you don’t have to put up with long walks.

In Hérault, you can hike practically all year round, but beware of the high temperatures in high season, which restrict certain trails. Choose itineraries in the shade, and remember to stay well hydrated.
Similarly, in winter, you can hike on sunny days, but make sure you have the right footwear for slippery areas.

Mobile applications such as AllTrails or Visiorando allow you to keep track of the stages of your journey, compare hiking difficulties and explore available itineraries via an interactive map.

Finally, as we love our environment and its lush greenery, please make sure you respect the trail boundaries and don’t leave any garbage in your path.
