The Living Soil Festival, organized by the Réseau Compost Citoyen, is an annual event dedicated to promoting soil-friendly practices that are essential to preserving our environment.

This event brings together composting and agroecology enthusiasts, and anyone interested in learning more about the importance of healthy soils for sustainable agriculture and biodiversity.

This year, for its second edition, the Living Soil Festival will take place from October 5 to 20, 2024.

To mark the occasion, Cottage Parks reiterates its commitment toeco-responsible actions on a daily basis.

Activities and exchanges

During the Fête du Sol Vivant (Living Soil Festival), various activities are organized in many regions to raise public awareness of soil fertility issues. The aim? Discover practices that help regenerate soil while producing/consuming sustainably, through :

  • composting workshops,
  • demonstrations of ecosystem-friendly farming techniques,
  • conferences and webinars led by experts,
  • visits to shared gardens,
  • exchanges with local farmers, etc.

Composting is crucial
for preserving the soil

One of the main aims of the festival is to show how everyone can contribute to soil health.

By taking part in hands-on workshops, visitors learn how to transform organic waste into compost, a natural soil improver that enriches the soil without the use of chemicals.

In addition to reducing the amount of waste sent to landfill, composting plays a crucial role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and combating climate change.

Why? Because 30% of household waste is biodegradable, and burning it amounts to… burning water!

Get involved

The Living Soil Festival is also a time for sharing and conviviality, where citizens committed to protecting the environment can meet and exchange experiences.

It’s an opportunity to discover local initiatives and draw inspiration from each other’s practices, so that together we can do more for the planet.

Farmers’ markets, shared meals based on local and seasonal produce, and activities for youngsters complete the program, making this day a true moment of communion with nature.

Let’s stay mobilized every day!

By taking part in the Living Soil Festival, everyone becomes aware of the importance of preserving soil biodiversity, the source of our food and the health of our ecosystems.

Much more than a simple event, this annual celebration is a call to collective action to keep our soils fertile, alive and capable of feeding future generations.

At Cottage Parks, we’re all about commitment, whether you’re at home or on a camping vacation.

Cottage Parks and its certified campsite

At Cottage Parks, we get our hands dirty with compost!

As required by the law on the management of bio-waste in campsites since 2024, our establishments must now offer a composting area. Two employees have therefore taken a diploma from EBE l’abeille verte in Lodève to become referents.

Today, our campers can sort their organic waste and thus reduce the share of household waste.

Did you know? Thanks to its good practices, our La Clape Village campsite has been awarded the “showcase site” label by the Réseau Compost Citoyen.

Cottage Parks’ ambition is to develop a network of eco-responsible campsites and support them in their training, implementation of concrete actions and communication to promote these actions.

Its experience in composting, in particular, and its ability to set it up at campsites with 440 and 625 pitches respectively, are assets for partner campsites.
